Person-centred Approach
How person-centred counselling works
In the heart of my practice lies the foundation of Person-Centred Therapy, a humanistic approach that prioritizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine understanding. I believe that every individual has the innate capacity for self-awareness and positive growth. In our sessions, I strive to offer a space where you are truly heard, and the counselling experience is led by the thoughts and emotions you choose to share with me. Together, we embark on a collaborative journey towards self-discovery, empowerment, and meaningful change.
That being said, person-centred is not the only approach can I use in my therapy. Many people have specific desired outcomes for therapy, and that may include a request for a specific approach.
Is person-centred the only approach?
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
CBT is perhaps my most requested additional approach, which can be used on its own or in tandem with person-centred counselling. In certain situations, understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be pivotal. CBT is a goal-oriented approach that helps identify and challenge negative thought patterns. It can be particularly effective in addressing anxiety, depression, and managing stress.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Rooted in the exploration of unconscious processes and early life experiences, Psychodynamic Therapy provides insight into how past events may influence present behaviours and relationships. This approach is well-suited for those interested in delving into deeper layers of self-awareness and understanding the origins of certain patterns.
Integrative Therapy
Recognizing that each individual is unique, Integrative Therapy combines elements from various therapeutic approaches to create a tailored and flexible treatment plan. This approach allows us to draw upon a range of techniques to address your specific needs, offering a holistic and personalized therapeutic experience.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
For those seeking practical solutions and a focus on the future, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) may be a beneficial approach. SFBT emphasizes identifying and building on existing strengths to create positive change quickly. This approach is especially useful for those looking to address specific issues and set achievable goals.

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
